Blood Brothers (The Film)

A coming-of-age story about bloodshed, brotherhood, and the families left behind to heal. A loosely based true story. 

Logline

A middle-aged man, Jerome Carter, is murdered at a motel in Augusta, GA when a sex trade deal gone bad results in a brawling match between, he and his girlfriend. Being covered up as a suicide, the incident brings his three brothers—Sean, Lewis, and Angel Carter—back home to Augusta to make their way through town with a vengeance. The mission to find out who killed their brother so they can bring their family to a resolve, quickly escalates into more than what they had ever anticipated. 

Synopsis

Originally under the impression that the crime surrounding their brother's death was a suicide, the three brothers chase down and interrogate suspects and motel guests that were there the night of the incident, only to discover that there was a sex trade meet-up and brawl that was a set-up by Jerome's girlfriend to get him killed. Soon after this discovery, their hunt leads them to the discovery of the triggerman, who they went to confront. Let's just say things didn't go over so well when they arrived. 

The next day, Augusta Police Lieutenant Chase and Detective Malone confront the brothers about taking matters into their own hands. While the brothers deny any involvement, Lieutenant Chase warns them that their interference with Jerome's case is ill-advised and that it will put them in over their heads. 

After the Lieutenant and Detective leaves, the brothers have their own come-to-Jesus moments as they reminisce about their childhood with their deceased brother and parents. The confessions made in this moment is the catalyst to the discovery they need to get closer to the resolution of their brother's death. 

The next day, Sean is abruptly awakened by another dream of his father being murdered by gunshot. He jumps up causing his brothers to awaken. He reveals he's had the dream again and after one simple question from Angel, “Well, can you see who is on the other side of the trigger?” Sean quickly comes to the revelation that it was a woman. His Uncle's girlfriend in fact. But what he had forgotten were the instructions his mother left with him before she had passed a few months prior. She instructed him to read a letter that she had left for him a letter in her room upstairs for him to read. But it was for his eyes only. What was confessed in that letter shook Sean's world and gave him more clarity on who killed his brother and why. 

Sean reveals to his brothers that he knows who set-up their brother to be killed and they rush to confront the person. The confrontation ends with someone you'd never expect to lose their life, leaving the brothers and their family facing the reality that revenge doesn't resolve bad blood.

During these times where the world is in need of understanding the complexities, struggles, and the humanity of men and brotherhood, we are creating a passion project that will speak to that and more in the form of a feature film. Our hope is that men and their families would find understanding and healing through our story.

Our 1st priority is to reach our minimum budget of $10,000. This would allow us to receive all financial donations raised here on this platform. If we don't reach our minimum budget, then we can't receive any of the funds to complete our project. 

Our 2nd priority is to reach our actual budget of $25,000. This would allow us to comfortably create a quality feature film without any struggle or strain. And we will be able to distribute our film to video on demand platforms such as Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Hulu, and more. 

This is our 3rd, but top goal! We would love to reach our stretch goal of $35,000. This would not only allow us to create a quality film that's going to touch our American audience, but we will be able to take this film internationally, enter it into film festivals where executives of major networks will have a chance to choose our film to be licensed on their network channels. We will also be able to bring this film to select theatres.
